Educational digital libraries have great potential to support systemic educational change as communities become engaged, develop a common vision, and share exemplary resources and models. Since systemic educational change is necessarily concerned with engaging all segments of the system, setting well-defined goals and objectives, and gathering evidence of outcomes, project evaluation is an essential piece of the mix. The developing DLESE Evaluation Toolkit project supports evaluation of geoscience education projects by establishing a dialogue between educators and evaluators, collecting exemplary geoscience education evaluation tools, and providing professional development for community members. An overview of the Evaluation Toolkit project will describe the philosophy behind the project, the progress made in developing the Toolkit, opportunities for community involvement, and initial community feedback.
