The Hiscock Site (late Quaternary, western New York State) has a remarkably rich paleontological and archaeological record. Besides the fossils and artifacts, however, other valuable sources of information are the stratigraphic relationships and features found within the strata. These include evidence of Pleistocene events influencing Holocene conditions, and of Holocene events affecting the Pleistocene record. There are also observations touching on the duration and nature of the transition from Pleistocene- to Holocene-type environments.

The wealth and diversity of data yielded by Hiscock reflect the extended nature of the site's study, an effort that has lasted for 20 years.
