TRENDS, PROSPECTS AND CHALLENGES IN FRACTURED ROCK HYDROLOGY

NEUMAN, Shlomo P., Hydrology and Water Resources, Univ of Arizona, 1133 E. North Campus Drive, Tucson, AZ 85721, neuman@hwr.arizona.edu.

“Among the current problems that hydrogeologists face, perhaps there is none as challenging as the characterization of fractured rock” (Faybishenko and Benson, 2000). This paper discusses current trends in the characterization, conceptualization and analysis of flow and transport in fractured rocks as well as prospects and challenges for the future.
