LAYING THE FOUNDATIONS OF GEOLOGY FOR FOURTH GRADERS AT THE STANWICH SCHOOL IN GREENWICH, CONNECTICUT

A rigorous science program is planned for the fourth grade at the Stanwich School in Greenwich, Connecticut. These units include weather, circulatory and respiratory systems, matter and energy, pond life and the environment. Within these guidelines the geologic sciences are incorporated by integrating current events and specific student interests with the required course content. Outside resources are utilized, as well as samples from personal and borrowed collections, to enlighten the students and stoke interest in the earth sciences and other scientific disciplines.
