COMPOSITIONAL VARIATIONS OF OLIVINE IN THE EASTERN DEEPS SUB-CHAMBER OF THE VOISEY'S BAY NI-CU-CO DEPOSIT IN LABRADOR, CANADA

WILLIAMS, Curtis D., Geology, Indiana University, 1001 East Tenth Street, Bloomington, IN 47405, cuwillia@indiana.edu and LI, Chusi, Department of Geological Sciences, Indiana Univ, 1001 E. 10th St, Bloomington, IN 47405

New data from this study support the Eastern Deeps chamber was filled by multiple pulses of magma from a lower chamber. Olivine associated with sulfide or silicates contain 291 to 2099 ppm Ni. The Ni content of olivine increases with Fa content. There are abrupt changes in olivine compositions with depth suggesting involvement of multiple pulses of sulfide-bearing silicate liquids in the Eastern Deeps chamber.
