GOODELL, Philip C., Department of Geology, University of Texas at El Paso, 500 W University Ave, El Paso, TX 79968, goodell@geo.utep.edu and HOWARI, Fares M., Geological Science Department, University of Texas at El Paso, 500 W University Ave, El Paso, Texas, TX 79968

Energy generation and utilization are at the core of the problems which the globe faces today. Nuclear energy theoretically offers a unique solution to part of this global situation; however it has practical problems such as economics, safety, waste disposal, non-proliferation, and societal acceptance. Aspects of these problems are in change, and some have improved over time. Societal acceptance of nuclear energy has not improved as rapidly as the other problematic aspects. Nuclear education program is an effective means to deal with these variables and can help building confidence in societies about their choice of energy options. Societal acceptance of nuclear energy has not improved as rapidly as the other problematic aspects. Envisioned is a global network of experts in Nuclear Energy who are interested in participating in a community effort to help others learn truths and controversies (T&C) about nuclear energy. A Multilanguage website with identical, simple, essential, T&C would be linked to elaborations of every topic and specificity to every country. Blogs and interactive web resources are encouraged with links to workgroups, fellows, reports, universities and research institutions. Local ‘feet on the pavement' activities are believed to be essential to a sustainable network plan. Insight and answers from both natural and human sciences for certain geographical areas are presented. The information presented is expected to increase awareness and understanding of nuclear issues, and clarifies some misinformation. The plan of action of project execution and the overall advantages are presented as well.
