COMPLEMENTARY SKILLS GEOLOGY STUDENTS CAN DEVELOP THAT WILL LEAD TO A SUCCESSFUL CAREER
|
LYONS, William H., 452 Julienton Drive, Townsend, GA 31331, will_lyonspg@hotmail.com Undergraduate and graduate programs in Geology provide a basic framework for employment in Geology. However, standard course work alone will not reveal that the prospect is the right person for the job. Complementary skills will prepare the recent graduate for success in the field and identify the graduate as a good choice for employment. The purpose of this presentation is to identify and illuminate some important complementary skills that provide a foundation for success in Geology and related fields. These skills include problem solving, communication, data analysis, and economic awareness. These abilities can be developed or enhanced inside and outside of the classroom, concurrent with coursework and at any point along a career path.
