NEW AGGREGATE VS. RECYCLED AGGREGATES AND FILL MATERIAL
|
LUNDY, Sherman, Elk Run Heights 50707, sherml@bmcaggregates.com Recycling Aggregate materials or the use of beneficial fill materials is a "green," approach with mixed potential. New Aggregate production may be impacted by using recycled materials resulting in market issues. Recycled materials may represent older specification aggregates not suitable for similar uses. Limited record keeping by DOTs creates problems with using recycled materials. Most recycled materials are better suited for special backfill, earth fill, or granular subbase.
