RELATING SOIL HEALTH TO AGRONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY IN ONEIDA COUNTY, NEW YORK

DORAN, Brittani M., SUNY Oneonta, 2475 North Road, Knoxboro, NY 13362, dorabm93@suny.oneonta.edu

In central New York State, farming is a vital and prominent industry. Local economies rely heavily on a productive agricultural community. An essential part of crop farming is maintaining soil health. Using physical and chemical tests and detailed surveys completed by the farmers, this localized study will attempt to correlate farming practices and soil maintenance routines with overall sustainability of agricultural activity in specific fields in the region.
