WATER IN RELIGIOUS AND MORAL PERSPECTIVE

VICCHIO, Stephen J., Department of Philosophy, College of Notre Dame of Maryland, Baltimore, MD 21210-2476, svicchio@ndm.edu

In this paper I will explore two issues. First, what insights and perspectives the Judeo-Christian philosophico-religious tradition has brought to the understanding of the nature and uses of water as a human resource. Secondly, I will explore ways in which the scientific community and people of faith might cooperate in discussing these issues. In this latter regard I will concentrate on ways both disciplines form their questions about water use.
