A project, recently finished, aiming to begin connecting schools teachers and students to the University has focused on the development of materials to be included in a web page. The subject of the competition (the project took this form to incentive participation) was to investigate, analyse and communicate about the existence, use and social impact of the use of natural resources in each school neighbourhood. The project was part of the action program of Aulagea, an initiative of the Departamento de Ciencias Geológicas de la Facultad de Ciencias Exactas de la Universidad de Buenos Aires, devoted to help teachers and students to find materials about Earth Sciences in the web. This material is written in Spanish and uses, as far as possible, local examples in order to enhance the interest of local schools.

The results have been highly satisfactory and, after some improvements, will be incorporated to the web page in a short time. The project has also rendered many interesting materials and case stories to investigate about common errors, misconceptions in school science, sources of information, role of teachers in each case, etc.
