The history of the Southeastern Section actually goes back to 1947 when the GSA Council authorized its formation. For various reasons the actual organization was delayed until 1951. With notable deviations, attendance at annual meetings increased through the first quarter century and remained relatively constant during the second quarter century. The section has been a leader and innovator, having pioneered in joint meetings, the Campus Liaison Representative network and section grants-in-aid of research.
