KINEMATIC ANALYSIS OF RESERVOIR HORIZONS IN THE OIL FIELDS OF DEZFUL

TORABI, Anita, Structural Geology, Earth seience Rsch institute, N0.2,Qaem alley,Ettati street,shahrak-e-azmayesh, Tehran, anitatorabi@hotmail.com

Dezful embayment is located in southwest Iran and bounded to BalaRud flexure towards northwest, Izeh fault zone towards southeast, and Mountain front fault towards north and and Zagros front flexuer towards south and consists of thick sedimentary sequences from Mesozoic and Cenozoic. This zone is charecterised by intense structural depression.

Structural analysis of five anticline reservoirs in Dezful embayment has been done based on different data types and also methods. The data consists of surface and subsurface geology data, drilled well information, seismic data and also in some case reservoir information.

The structural analysis has been applied first for target horizons(Surfaces) and later on developed for the target layers. The srtuctuers first studied as a single structural element and then analyzed in the foreland foild thrsu belt so the changes in different structural patterns has been evaluated. The structural analsis includes both geometric and kinematic analysis.

According to dip isogons classification (Ramsay 1967) and also relative competence of layer(Twiss and Moore 1992) the reservoir horizons (competent) such as Asmari,Sarvak and Dariyan are of class 1B and source and cap rock (incompetent) layers such as Pabdeh,Gurpi and Garu are of class 1A and 1C.

In view of fault fold relationship there are fault-propagation folds and fault bending folds such that Parsi and Mamatain fields are fault bend folds and Naft sefid, Karanj and Haftkel are fault propagation folds. The duplex model can be seen in Haftkel as well.
