A successful program has been implemented combining the expertise in GIS and GPS at the University level to support teacher created inquiry based learning activities in the 7 – 12 grade classroom. 20 schools in Northwest Ohio have participated in this program designed to bring environmental and geologic research into the classroom while introducing students to GIS and GPS concepts that support the states Science and Math proficiency standards. Rubric and exercises designed by the teachers are shared through a web-based system and facilitate technology and content transfer between the participating schools.
