The Alliance for Earth Sciences, Engineering and Development in Africa (AESEDA) is an international initiative of The Pennsylvania State University College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. The mission of the Alliance is to develop human resources, promote economic vitality, enable stewardship of geo-resources, and build sustainable livelihoods in Africa via the integration of physical science, engineering, and social sciences cooperatively with the Pennsylvania State University, African universities, and Historically Black Colleges and Universities. As part of its mission, the Alliance is developing a library/information resources component to promote collaboration among partner institutions in the development of and improved access to library and information resources related to geo-resources management and sustainable livelihoods in Africa. This paper will describe the program and its goals for the future.
