OCCURRENCE OF THE TRILOBITE DITOMOPYGE SCITULA (MEEK AND WORTHEN) IN THE LOWER BIRD SPRING FORMATION, ARROW CANYON (GSSP), CLARK COUNTY, NEVADA

Arrow Canyon Global Boundary Stratotype Section and Point (GSSP), Arrow Canyon Range, Clark County, Nevada has been intensively studied for several decades. Most of the major Upper Paleozoic fossil groups have been reported from this site and studied and described in detail. Up until now, trilobites seem to be the last major Paleozoic fossil group which have not been reported. In the fall of 2003 the senior author found a single, complete specimen tentatively identified as Ditomopyge scitula (Meek and Worthen) in the lower Bird Spring Formation. Subsequent fieldwork has yielded additional specimens in the lower Bird Spring Formation of Arrow Canyon (GSSP).
