CAN ELECTRICAL IMAGING QUANTIFY HYDROCARBON CONCENTRATIONS IN THE FIELD?
Previous work indicates that hydrocarbon contamination can be qualitatively linked with electrical resistivity signatures. Electrical imaging techniques would be more useful if the concentrations of fugitive hydrocarbons can be quantified. In this study, post-remediation hydrocarbon contaminated locations were evaluated using electrical imaging. Several locations of remaining hydrocarbons were identified away from monitoring wells. Resistivity data were correlated with core samples, conductivity logs, and total petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations.
