The National Science and Technology Council has convened a Subcommittee on Water Availability and Quality (SWAQ) that works to identify priority science and technology needs to ensure that the U.S. has a sustainable supply of fresh water for human needs and economic development over the coming decades. The SWAQ is pursuing strategies for maintaining adequate supplies of fresh water through the concerted efforts of coordinated federal agencies working with their state, tribal, and local stakeholders.
