The National Center for Earth-surface Dynamics (NCED), a NSF-funded Science and Technology Center, is developing 3-D maps for classroom use. While 3-D maps are engaging and appealing resources, teachers working with the maps in pilot studies often request background science materials, content, or specific activities to use with the maps. Pre-service teacher interns have worked with NCED researchers to develop activities based on NCED principles. This session will present example maps and activities designed to interpret earth-surface processes and landforms to students.
