ON-LINE TEACHING MATERIALS AND MORE FOR GEOSCIENCE FACULTY

The world wide web has had a major impact on teaching geoscience, changing not only the way courses are managed and the range of assignments but also the ways that students and faculty find information. Capitalizing on these new opportunities to share information, the Science Education Resource Center, the MSU Geoscience Education Web Development Team, the NAGT On the Cutting Edge faculty development program, and their partners are developing on-line resources for faculty to assist in designing courses and creating assignments. These sites are a rich source of examples and materials for teaching geoscience at the college level. The example collection is fully searchable by geoscience topic. Information is also provided on specific teaching methods and topics of interest such as teaching with data, using visualizations, and integrating research and education.
