Caving builds enthusiasm and inspires inquiry-based learning in the geosciences. Caving in the Northeast can be an adventurous learning experience that relates directly to many levels of geoscience curriculum. Proper procedures and safety are imperative to a successful trip. Local cave grottos are an excellent resource for exploration and to familiarize students with safe caving procedures. Specifics will include who to contact, regional cave locations, necessary equipment and guidelines for running a safe and successful cave trip for your students. Handouts published by the National Speleological Society will be available.
