BUILDING BOARD OF EDUCATION SUPPORT FOR CONFERENCE PARTICIPATION

Sustained involvement in professional organizations like GSA constitutes a critical, yet often undervalued, aspect of staff development. Participating in content-related professional development activities (such as GSA-NE) has benefits that transcend a single teacher or experience. Despite this, it is often a struggle to garner funds to cover conference fees and transportation costs. One strategy to foster support for these endeavors is to present the benefits of this participation to your community at a Board of Education meeting. This poster will outline the process of getting on the Board's agenda, examine the critical points to emphasize, and outline the range of benefits, all within the context of a broader staff development plan that conforms to the NCLB legislation.
