THE IMPACTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE SCENARIOS ON ARIZONA WATERSHEDS

The combination of massive population growth, recent climate change, and future climatic uncertainty has produced important questions concerning water resources and sustainability in the Phoenix, Arizona area. This poster illustrates the use of a climatic water budget model to simulate monthly inputs to surface water resources within the watersheds that serve Phoenix. The sensitivy of the watersheds to changes in temperature and precipitation is presented, as are the results of popular Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change scenarios of future climate across the southwestern United States.
