We present a new surficial geologic map of the Freeland Quadrangle and the Whidbey Island portion of the Hansville Quadrangle. Our mapping includes a compilation of old and new age control data from the map area and an updated interpretation of the stratigraphy exposed east of Double Bluff, including the type sections of the Double Bluff and Whidbey Formations. We speculate on possible structural implications of new age control data and highlight new insights into sedimentary provenance and the paleoenvironmental and geomorphic development of southern Whidbey Island.
