Soil organic carbon (SOC) pool is an important component in the global carbon (C) cycle as it contains more C than the atmosphere and biosphere together. SOC stock at a location is impacted by various factors and these factors differ at different locations. This study attempts to use different predictors of SOC at different major land resource areas (MLRAs) to map the SOC stock at a regional scale. Therefore, geographic weighted regression is used to map the SOC stock across the 7 States of Midwestern U.S. (Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Maryland). A total of 1422 SOC profile samples are used in this study. The data of environmental variables (elevation, temperature, rainfall, land use) that are supposed to impact the SOC stock are extracted from the secondary data sources. The results will be presented at the SSSA meeting.
