TEMPORAL VISUALIZATION WITHIN A SUBSURFACE GEOLOGIC CONTEXT

PACK, Skip, Dynamic Graphics, Inc, 1015 Atlantic Avenue, Alameda, CA 94501, skip@dgi.com

As the amount of data generated by established technologies and methods explodes new technologies become significant data sources and sophisticated analytic and modeling tools synthesize even more data. Multiple disciplines with their own data and tools are involved in most projects. Maximizing the insight generated in such projects demands collaboration between disciplines. Chronological viewing of time variant data from multiple disciplines often triggers the investigation that leads to new insights. This talk will discuss types and concepts of temporal visualization in a 3D geologic context with real examples of such visualization and the insights gained.
