DISCOVERY OF A SECOND HADROSAUR FROM THE LATE CRETACEOUS COON CREEK FORMATION, WEST TENNESSEE
New material was found belonging to Hadrosaurinae. A left dentary, a caudal vertebra, and 6 indeterminate bone fragments of a juvenile hadrosaur was found in a Coon Creek Formation outcrop in Decatur County, Tennessee. It has been identified as genus Edmontosaurus. Species is indeterminate but likely annectens. The stratigraphy consists of highly bioturbated and fossiliferous glauconitic material that is weathered. A possible relation to previously published first hadrosaur find in Tennessee is being studied. In this outcrop there is an abundance of vertebrate material mostly consisting of mosasaur vertebra, shark teeth, Enchodus teeth and jaws, and numerous taxa of sea turtle shell fragments. There are also numerous crustacean limb fragments, rare bivalve molds, and burrow casts.
