OGDEN TWETO – A GREAT GEOLOGIST

Ogden Tweto was an integral part of the history of the State of Colorado, the Colorado Scientific Society, the U.S.G.S., and earth sciences in general across a time of transitions on many fronts. He published numerous scientific articles, many of which were major contributions on all aspects of Colorado geology. A new geologic map of Colorado was a crowning achievement. It is not an exaggeration that he earned the unofficial title of Mr. Colorado Geology.

The talk will not summarize details of Ogden’s career, but is a personal celebration of a long-term friendship and geologic collaboration that places the general progression of Ogden's career in a human perspective, and highlights his personal contributions to his associates both within and outside his U.S.G.S. home.
