IMAGING NOTES: A TOOL FOR GEOSCIENCE EDUCATION AND GEOINFORMATICS

YOO, Myrna James, Blueline Publishing, 314 W Charles St, Superior, CO 80027, myrna@publishingpartnerships.com

Imaging Notes is the premier publication for commercial, government and academic geospatial and remote sensing professionals around the world. It provides objective exclusive in-depth reporting that demonstrates how remote sensing technologies and spatial information illuminate the urgent interrelated issues of the environment, energy and security.

Geoscience educators and all professionals may subscribe to Imaging Notes at no cost, if they qualify based on their titles. The monthly eNewsletters is also free of charge; it includes industry news and previews of upcoming feature stories. With each issue, the magazine brings experts, in-depth reporting, thought-provoking ideas within natural resources/energy, transportation/infrastructure, civil government, defense/security and government policy.

Geoinformatics specialists, especially those working on community remote sensing projects, are encouraged to contribute material to Imaging Notes. Articles are published based solely on their merit and are not connected in any way to advertisers. Opinion pieces may be published as guest editorials.

As a quarterly publication, Imaging Notes reports in-depth on items of critical interest to the geosciences community. It also celebrates the beauty of the imagery by providing a sophisticated environment and relevant design throughout the publication. The scope of articles range from primarily satellite data sources to include all areas of remote sensing around the world, from aerial to satellite and LiDAR to RADAR.

The Summer 2010 issue of Imaging Notes highlighted Community Remote Sensing. The cover article noted that citizen science or crowd-sourcing can be a key element in filling the data gap for remote sensing. The data provided from people and sensors "on the ground" will be instrumental in seeing a much fuller picture for projects around the world. This article features projects about coral reef monitoring on the Great Barrier Reef and Myanmar cyclone response by GISCorps.

The Fall 2010 issue will include a report on the CRS plenary session and panel discussion at the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (IGARSS) 30th Anniversary meeting in July 2010.
