GEOLOGICAL WORKSHOP FOR TEACHERS ON MIDDLE BUFFALO RIVER, TYLER BEND TO GILBERT, NORTH-CENTRAL ARKANSAS
The Buffalo National River is one of the many amazing natural resources in the state of Arkansas . The river is an ideal setting for outdoor classroom activities. The Arkansas Geological Survey is currently completing a geological float trip guidebook from Tyler Bend to Gilbert, with an emphasis on science frameworks for teachers in Arkansas . Educators will now have the opportunity to learn about geology as they canoe alongside Mississippian through Upper Ordovician age rocks. Teachers will gain a basic understanding of geological principals and discover modern stream processes and morphology. Additionally, this guidebook will be available online along with supplemental activities and a virtual geological tour using Google Earth that can be presented in the classroom.
