The North Shore Volcanic Group: A 9-Km Thick Plateau Lava Sequence in the Mesoproterozoic Midcontinent Rift System **CANCELLED**

Field Trip Description: The 1.1 Ga North Shore Volcanic Group is a major, well preserved, minimally-deformed plateau lava sequence with a wide range from primitive olivine tholeiite flood basalts to ferroandesites to very large, high-temperature rhyolites. The sequence experienced a hydrothermal zeolite to beginning greenschist facies overprint. This trip will visit examples of the major geochemical types and volcanic features, along with a few of the hypabyssal intrusions that intrude them. as well as some typical features of the hydrothermal alteration event.
Field Trip will span: 3 days
