DOES YOUR MOTHER KNOW WHAT AN UNCONVENTIONAL RESERVOIR IS? DO YOU?

GIVAN, Ann Vasko, iReservoir.com, 1490 W. Canal Ct. #2000, Littleton, CO 80120, agivan@ireservoir.com

The purpose of this presentation is to provide the fundamental knowledge to explain what an unconventional reservoir is, and to empower you to impart that knowledge to any person. The public’s and media’s lack of basic geoscientific knowledge creates a pervasively negative attitude toward energy resources. The current spotlight on unconventional resources and the associated processes, highlight only the downside of exploiting unconventional sources of energy.

The focus of this presentation is to: define an unconventional resource, be able to explain how they are different from conventional resources, identify the different types and describe the challenges associated with development of unconventional reservoirs. As scientists we have the capacity and responsibility to communicate complex geoscience systems to the public simply and with clarity. Imparting our understanding with unbiased passion founded on accurate facts, the public responds by becoming better equipped and self-confident to make energy decisions. The paradigm shifts and they begin to notice how profoundly the business of energy affects their lives.
