BEDROCK STRUCTURES AND GLACIAL HISTORY: PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL CONTROLS ON SHALLOW AQUIFER SYSTEMS IN NORTHWESTERN PENNSYLVANIA
Local and regional glacial aquifer systems in northwestern Pennsylvania are intimately linked to the existing bedrock geology and glacial history of the region. Over a five year period we have mapped bedrock elevation, joint and lineament patterns, hydrochemistry, and sediment thickness within the French Creek basin (2,000 km2). The local complexity of shallow ground and surface water systems can be linked to larger, more regional controls in landscape evolution.
