THE GEOLOGICAL CALENDAR

Since 2002, the "Year of Geosciences" in Germany, the Geological Calendar is published and distributed by the DGG Deutsche Gesellschaft für Geowissenschaften (German Society for Geosiences). The specialty of the calendar are the explanations of the phenomena illustrated on the monthly pictures at the reverse side of each monthly sheet. The calendar is prepared not only for geoscientists but especially for anybody who is interested in the whole spectrum of geosciences. The themes of the calendars range from "The Polar Regions" up to "Coasts of the Earth". Some aspects of the calenders regarding public outreach are presented.
