CAMP CHEROKEE SUMMER OPPORTUNITY FOR NATIVE AMERICAN YOUTH
July, 2010 at Sequoyah High School, one hundred fifty Native American students, aged twelve to eighteen years were chosen to participate in Camp Cherokee. This week-long camp was the brain child of two Cherokee Nation Educational Outreach employees. The author participated in the STEM portion of the camp as an instructor of a course called "Native Approach to Science." Students were introduced to a wide variety of natural science topics using both laboratory and field experiences in small group settings.
