HIGGINS, Michael W., The Geologic Mapping Institute, 1752 Timber Bluff Drive, Clayton, GA 30525-6011 and CRAWFORD, Ralph F., The Geologic Mapping Institute, 1297 Briardale Lane, Atlanta, GA 30306, mhiggins@mindspring.com

Geologic mapping over the past 35 years, by ourselves and others, has been compiled into one map presented here at 1:200,000 in order to fit it into poster-panel space. The geologic map covers the western Blue Ridge in Georgia and the Piedmont in all or parts of the Athens, GA, Atlanta, GA, Dalton, GA-TENN-N.C., Griffin, GA, LaGrange, GA-ALA, Opelika, ALA-GA, Macon, GA, Milledgeville, GA, Thomaston, GA, and Toccoa, GA-S.C.-N.C. 1-100,000-scale USGS topographic maps. Geologic mapping used in the compilation is mostly detailed and/or detailed reconnaissance, where detailed means all roads, all major streams, and some contacts are walked, and detailed reconnaissance means all roads and some major streams were walked or closely examined.
