CSIKI, Shane, New Hampshire Geological Survey, 29 Hazen Drive, P.O. Box 95, Concord, NH 03302, Shane.Csiki@des.nh.gov

New Hampshire has experienced numerous episodes of flooding in recent years that have caused considerable flood damages, including substantial channel erosion and an avulsion. Most recently, Tropical Storm Irene created further flood and erosion which has led to a number of imminent public safety dangers. The increased frequency of major floods that New Hampshire is experiencing will continue to pose long-term consequences, particularly as these events continue. This presentation will summarize the impacts experienced in New Hampshire in recent years, including Tropical Storm Irene, and discuss the initiatives currently being undertaken in New Hampshire to mitigate flood and erosion impacts in the long-term.
