FRESHWATER MOLLUSKS (PLEISTOCENE) FROM THE LILLY MCARTHUR GREGORY MAMMAL SITE

The newly discovered Lilly McArthur Gregory Pleistocene mammal site, located in Crosby County, Texas, consists of at least seven sediment horizons. Some of these horizons contain either vertebrate or invertebrate fossils. Freshwater mollusks have been found in close association with the remains of a juvenile Mammuthus columbi. This study involves the taxonomic identification of these mollusks (two gastropods and two bivalves) and stratigraphic delineation of the horizon. Taxonomic identification of these fauna within this horizon may result in clues for interpreting environmental conditions and assist in the stratigraphy of this important mammal site.
