GEOLOGICAL HISTORY OF THE SISKIYOU-KLAMATH MOUNTAINS WITH EMPHASIS ON TECTONIC MOVEMENT, ACCRETION, UPLIFT, AND MANTLE FLOW RESULTING IN MARBLE EMPLACEMENT AT OREGON CAVES NATIONAL MONUMENT OVER 260 MILLION YEARS.  (DEPICTED WITH USE OF DRAWN GRAPHICS)

This project graphically depicts the history of the Siskiyou-Klamath Mountains from 260 million years ago until the present. The emplacement of marble units in the Rattlesnake Creek Terrane, now located 30 miles inland and at 4000 feet elevation, is emphasized. Major geological processes are depicted in each graphic which include tectonic plate movement, subduction, accretion, uplift, mantle flow, and the resulting surface geography of these activities.

Each graphic portrays a snapshot in time and shows probable surface conditions, cross sections, global plate tectonics, local tectonics in map view, a timeline, prevailing weather conditions, and what types of biological life exsisted at the time.
