GOOGLE-EARTH BASED INTERACTIVE DATABASE FOR SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATIONS IN THE FIELD OF ENVIRONMENTAL GEOCHEMISTRY AND HEALTH
There is an ever-growing specific demand for high-quality geo-scientific information in the public interest. This is particularly valid in the field of urban environmental geochemistry and health. Considering more than 2/3 of the world population is expected to live in urban settings by 2030, the significance of understanding the major factors controlling the distribution, dispersion and environmental availability of potentially toxic elements in urban settings is more important than ever. With this in mind, the primary aim of this study is to establish a Google-Earth based interactive database for scientific publications in the field of environmental geochemistry and health in general and urban medical geology specifically. The data-base will include a brief summary of the research article. In addition to the citation, location and source of the article, other information including elements of interests (Pb, Hg, As), analytical methods and statistical analyses of data will be presented in a table format. Users will be invited to upload or update relevant articles to expand the database which will establish a fundamental frame-work to allow international collaboration between researchers, professionals, and students. The preliminary data-base will be presented in the 5th International Conference on Medical Geology (August, 2013).
