PROTEROZOIC-PHANEROZOIC CHEMOSTRATIGRAPHY OF THE SOUTHERN CANADIAN ROCKY MOUNTAINS
Carbonate and siliciclastic sedimentary rocks of the latest Neoproterozoic Miette Group (Windermere Supergroup) and earliest Cambrian Gog Group near Jasper, Alberta, Canada provide a new record of ocean chemistry evolution at the Proterozoic-Phanerozoic transition. Correlated high resolution transects of stable isotope, 87Sr/86Sr, and elemental data are presented from the diachronous Yellowhead and Astoria platforms in the Rocky Mountains, and from basinal equivalents in the Cariboo Mountains.
