The United States Geological Survey drilled two cores, SC-1 and SC-6, over the Quaternary Alluvium Deposits of the Lajas Valley, Puerto Rico in 1987. The lithology and fossil content of these cores have never been described before. The purpose of this research is to describe a high resolution stratigraphic section of both cores and interpret the depositional environment of the Lajas Valley. Cores were described using standard sedimentological and stratigraphic methods. Correlations were made based on the lithology and fossil content. Lithological correlations were possible only on top and basement of the cores by the difference in fluvial and marine facies along the stratigraphic sections due to possible tectonic events that change deposition of fluvial and marine deposits from east to west of the valley.
