CURIOSITY ON MARS - INSPIRING THE YOUNG GENERATION

TAVERNIER, Lyle, NASA, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, 4800 Oak Grove Drive, Pasadena, CA 91109

The information technologies available to schools, and the connections they can make with other students around the world, are a powerful tool that can be used to bridge classroom experiences to current and future space exploration missions. In April of 2014, NASA’s Digital Learning Network, a distance education program that provides connections between scientists, engineers, education specialists, and students, brought together future explorers from the United States, Buenos Aires and Nicaragua to learn about Mars, engage in scientific inquiry, and share cultures. Just as the internet has brought the world closer together, collaborative efforts like this have the power to link classrooms around the world to each other, and bring the rest of the solar system a little closer to Earth. This talk will discuss the current state and future possibilities of virtual presentations.
