KARST HYDRODYNAMIC CONDITIONS AND GEOLOGICAL ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION IN CHINA

YAORU, Lu and QI, Liu, Department of Geotechnical Engineering, Tongji University, No.1239 Siping Road, Shanghai, 200092, China

Karst is widely distributed in China with many types, such as the world famous stone forest, the karst hill-depression, the Fengcong-depression and Fenglin-valley etc. Karst research have great significance for better construction, protecting the ecological environmental safety and sustainable development in Karst area, especially research on the Karst water dynamical condition is very important work. The karst hydrodynamic conditions are closely related with the soluble rock, structure, local climatic-hydrological condition, water circulation and drainage system, hydrodynamic features etc. in vast karst regions of China, the karst hydrodynamic conditions will be separated in many types, and the several ones are simply discussed.

In karst regions, the surface are usually drought, but a series of karst passages-underground rivers (in South China) and larger karst spring systems (in North China or South China) are developing. In China, a lot of water conservancy and water power stations have been constructed in river basins, and many underground dams have been built in karst underground rivers, meanwhile, the surface reservoir joint underground reservoir have also been formed. The leakage problem to call karst collapse are very important problem for surface either subsurface reservoirs construction have appeared as main geological environmental problem, such as the earthquake, geohazards etc. and to take related treatments in karst regions of China.

In karst regions of China, a series of deep-buried long tunnels have been build, the most important problems are invasion of water-mud as well as stone massages into the tunnels to call many harms. The related treatments and the six work in advanced are taken for avoiding and decreasing the harms by the water-mud invasion into tunnels. On the other hand, it is need to research the different land subsidence as well as the karst collapse problems. The karst hydrodynamic conditions are also involved to the geo-ecological systems, which main problems are included the reasonable development of important water-land resources, the avoiding and decreasing natural hazards. Particularly, it is must to pay attention over the hazards to be called by the artificial constructions. To protect the people’s lives and financial lost is the important duty for geologists.
