BUILDING STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF OIL AND GAS

FENNESSEY, Karl D., ConocoPhillips, 600 N Dairy Ashford, ATR-3074C, Houston, TX 77079

Successful Oil and Gas field development depends on a number of key factors: Strong technical information and research, safe and environmentally sound operations, stakeholder engagement and alignment, key partnerships, a strong supply chain and understanding of both the current and emerging issues. Managing each of these effectively is required to develop a successful, sustainable operation. These factors all come into play when looking at the issues around water management and the nexus of water and energy development.

Water management is essential in oil and gas operations. Yet water, particularly fresh water, is a limited resource in some parts of world now and availability, in some regions, may become more constrained in the future. This presentation will address industry understanding of water issues and impacts and share examples of water management strategies that are integral to sustainable and efficient operations in the oil and gas sector. Exploring how the industry manages water during the lifecycle of an asset from the sourcing of water to the treatment and reuse or disposal of water and other issues of stakeholder interest will be covered.
