LANDSLIDE AND DEBRIS-FLOW ACTIVITY IN PERIGLACIAL MOUNTAIN SETTINGS, EASTERN ITALIAN ALPS
In this contribution we show the results of a multi-temporal (1959-2011) landslide and debris-flow inventory in selected basins of the Eastern Italian Alps. In particular we are concerned with the spatial organization of the colluvial sediment cascade and how this is conditioned by the distribution of glacial and periglacial depositional landforms (e.g., moraines and rock glaciers) that in places act as buffers and in others as funnels, hence promote sediment delivery to stream channels. In particular we compare source-to-sink colluvial pathways as mapped from aerial photographs and supplementary fieldwork, with a geomorphometry-based index of sediment connectivity.
