Gastropods have been found in several quarries in New York and Canada including the Fiddlers Green formation, the Bertie Group, and the Williamsville A. Waterlime Formation. These particular specimens are from the Bertie Group Phelps Limestone in Lang’s Quarry, and have been identified under one specific species. The species is Hormotoma gregaria Ruedemann. The Bertie group is a hyper saline restricted lagoon with a widespread variety of flora and fauna. The Eurypterids are mainly studied in this group and the gastropods have not been touched on since the 1980’s. The smaller specimen gastropods are found in windrows with hundreds of specimens in each as a result of a tidal system within the lagoon. The smaller specimens have also been discovered to have both dextral and sinistral shell coiling.
