REDE, Gloria M. and MANSHIP, Lori L., Physical Sciences, The University of Texas of the Permian Basin, 4901 E. University, Odessa, TX 79762, gr8mammoths@yahoo.com

The Late Pleistocene (Tarantian) of the Rolling Plains section of the Southern Great Plains contains mammoth fossils along with other fossil vertebrates and invertebrates. A new fossil location, the Lily McArthur Gregory Field Site, in Dickens County, Texas, has yielded a juvenile mammoth. Approximately eighty percent of the skull, along with most of the upper torso was recovered from the site. This preliminary report includes species identification (Mammuthus columbi), an inventory of the mammoth remains, and age determination of this specimen at death.
