Paper No. 5
Presentation Time: 11:40 AM
GEOSCIENCE AND CONGRESS
Geoscience underpins many of the major challenges facing society, including energy security, natural hazard mitigation, and climate change. Federal policymakers also influence the conduct of science through the allocation of funding and provisions regarding its use. With few geoscience experts in Congress, establishing and maintaining communication and trust between scientists and policymakers is vital to making informed decisions. The talk will examine how to effectively engage in the legislative process.
