MAPPING THE CARIBBEAN ISLANDS FOR HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS

KEITH-HOULE, Leah, Science Department, Red Bank High School, 640 Morrison springs Road, Chattanooga, TN 37415, leahkeithhoule@gmail.com

Learn the ins and outs of mapping in San Salvador of the Caribbean with and without technology for hurricane preparedness. We volunteered the pooled resources of the Red Bank High School G.I.S. class' technical ability with help of the San Salvador High School students’ and teacher's field of knowledge and manpower to create an open source, editable map online of the whole of the island of San Salvador. Also see the continuing adventure of address mapping the islands of St. Thomas and St. John to assist their fire, medical, and police departments in emergency response; as well as using smartphone applications in field mapping.
